Inevitability is an editing problem. Every extra control is a small apology. We prototype in the highest fidelity we can afford early, then cut until a new user can complete the core job without a tour.
The work is rarely a new pattern. It is naming, order, and the courage to hide power until it is needed. Dashboards fail when they perform intelligence instead of providing it.
Measure activation, not applause. If a founder loves the marketing site and the first-run experience still needs a call, the product is not designed yet.
