Website Design Cost in India (2026): What Each Budget Buys

What a website really costs in India in 2026: prices by type, what each budget includes, and the domain, hosting, GST and upkeep costs on top.

Website design cost in India depends on what the site has to do. Our published starting prices are ₹18,000 for a professional business website, ₹45,000 for a full-stack site with a backend and database, and ₹1,25,000 for a premium custom build. On top of the build, budget for a domain, hosting, 18% GST if your developer is GST-registered, and upkeep.

Many pricing guides give a range too wide to budget with. This one is a rate card: our starting prices, what each package includes, what you supply, and the costs outside the build. Your final quote follows the scope you approve.

Selling products online is a separate decision with its own platform and payment fees. Our Shopify store package starts at ₹45,000, and our ecommerce website cost guide compares Shopify with a custom store over one and three years.

What each budget actually includes

A price only means something next to a scope. Here is what each package includes and what you are expected to provide, because that second list is where surprise costs hide.

Essential Website, from ₹18,000

This is a professional brochure site built with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, or React with Vite where required. It suits a clinic, consultant, contractor or any business that mainly needs to be found and contacted.

  • Home, About, Services and Contact pages, plus a portfolio or gallery
  • Mobile and tablet layouts with professional navigation
  • WhatsApp, click-to-call, a contact form, Google Maps and social links
  • Basic on-page SEO, image and performance basics, a favicon and deployment support

You provide the domain, hosting, logo, content, images and videos. Not included: a backend, database, admin panel, advanced APIs, or hosting and domain charges.

Intermediate Website, from ₹45,000

This is a dynamic site with a frontend, a backend and a database, so it can do things, not only show things. Think member logins, enquiries saved to a database, file uploads or search across listings.

  • Frontend in React, Next.js or Vite, chosen at quotation, with forms, validation, search and filtering
  • Backend in Node.js with Express, or Next.js API routes, with REST APIs, authentication, email and file uploads
  • A MongoDB or PostgreSQL database, with data modelling
  • WhatsApp, third-party APIs, Google Maps, analytics, basic SEO, and security and performance work

You provide the domain, hosting, content, brand assets and any API credentials. The stack is agreed with you at quotation, and that choice changes the price.

Extreme Website, from ₹1,25,000

This is for brands where design, speed, integrations and search all matter at once. It adds a premium custom design system, motion with GSAP, Framer Motion, Three.js or Lottie as scoped, and server rendering with Core Web Vitals work.

  • Auth, roles, secure APIs, webhooks, custom APIs and background jobs
  • Redis caching, indexing, a CDN, rate limiting and scalability planning
  • Integrations for WhatsApp, payments, a CRM, analytics, Search Console and Meta Pixel
  • Technical and on-page SEO with schema, sitemap, robots and canonicals, plus CI/CD, Vercel and monitoring

You provide the domain, a cloud account where needed, content, brand assets and API credentials. As with Intermediate, the stack is agreed at quotation and changes the price.

Design only, from ₹25,000

If you have a developer in-house, you can buy the design alone: sitemap and user flow, wireframes, high-fidelity screens for desktop, tablet and mobile, an interactive prototype, a basic design system and the Figma source files. Development, hosting and the domain are not part of it.

One more thing to check: none of the three website packages lists an admin panel, and the Essential package rules one out. If your team wants to edit content without calling a developer, ask for it in the quote. It is an add-on from ₹15,000.

Why website quotes in India vary so much

Two quotes for "a website" can be far apart and both be honest, because they are usually pricing different things. These are the factors that move the number most.

  • Template or custom. A template with your logo swapped in is quick to deliver. A custom design means planning the sitemap, user flow and layouts around your customers.
  • Scope. Every page, form, language and user role adds hours. An extra page alone is ₹1,500 to ₹4,000 on our rate card.
  • Tech stack. A static site costs less to build and host than a Next.js site with a Node.js backend and a database. The stack should follow what the site needs to do.
  • Integrations. Payments, logins, CRMs and third-party APIs each need setup, testing and error handling.
  • What the quote leaves out. Hosting, domain, content, photos, premium plugins and GST often sit outside the build price. A cheap quote can cost the same once you add them back.

Costs on top of the build: domain, hosting, GST and upkeep

The build is a one-time cost. Most of the rest repeat, and they are what turn a website price into a monthly cost. The hosting and domain rows use one large host's published prices as an example, not a recommendation.

Domain and hosting. Our packages list the domain and hosting as things you provide, so you can register them in your own name from day one. When you compare hosts, look at the renewal price, because the introductory rate only covers the first term.

GST. As of October 2026, website design and development falls under SAC 998314, information technology design and development services, within heading 9983. That heading carries 18% GST: 9% CGST plus 9% SGST when the supply is within one state, or 18% IGST between states. The rate changes that took effect on 22 September 2025 kept 18% as the standard rate, and the only change under heading 9983 was for services linked to petroleum and natural gas exploration.

Under the GST Council's registration guidance, a business that supplies only services need not register until its aggregate turnover reaches ₹20 lakh (₹10 lakh in Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura), and without registration it cannot collect GST from you. Smaller businesses may still register voluntarily, so two quotes can differ by 18% for that reason alone.

Ask every studio, us included, to write on the quote whether GST is included or extra. If your business is GST-registered, ask your CA whether you can claim input tax credit on it.

Website cost per month. For a simple brochure site on shared hosting, the running cost can be a few hundred rupees a month plus the yearly domain. A maintenance plan adds ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 a month with us. Ongoing SEO is a separate budget, from ₹15,000 a month, and our SEO cost guide explains what that buys.

Add-ons that move the price

Most quotes grow through extras, not the base package. These come from our published add-on list.

  • Additional page: ₹1,500 to ₹4,000
  • Advanced landing page: ₹5,000 to ₹12,000
  • Admin panel: from ₹15,000
  • Login and authentication: from ₹8,000
  • Payment gateway: from ₹5,000
  • Custom API: from ₹5,000
  • Database setup: from ₹7,500
  • Advanced GSAP animation: from ₹7,500
  • Speed optimisation: from ₹7,500
  • Analytics and tracking: from ₹3,000
  • Google Business Profile setup: from ₹5,000

The full list, including Redis caching and technical SEO, is on our pricing page. Anything added after the scope is agreed is quoted separately.

Speed work is easy to skip, so here is the one number we can share. In a lab test of our own website on a simulated slow 4G phone, adding compression, caching and image fixes took the homepage's first paint from 5.1 seconds to 1.6 seconds. That is lab data from one site, not field data from real visitors, and not a promise for yours.

First paint is also not the loading measure Google uses in Core Web Vitals. Google's guidance is to aim for Largest Contentful Paint within the first 2.5 seconds of a page starting to load, so measure that before and after any speed work.

Three example scopes, priced from our published rates

These are worked examples, not client projects. A real quote follows the scope you approve.

A local service business: from ₹26,000 to ₹31,000

An Essential Website covers Home, About, Services, Contact and a gallery. Add two service detail pages at ₹1,500 to ₹4,000 each and a Google Business Profile setup from ₹5,000. The build starts at ₹26,000 to ₹31,000, plus your domain and hosting.

A coaching institute with student logins: from ₹65,000

An Intermediate Website already includes authentication, forms, file uploads and a database. Add an admin panel from ₹15,000 so staff can post notices, and a payment gateway from ₹5,000 for fee collection. The build starts at ₹65,000.

A brand launch with campaigns: from ₹1,50,000 to ₹1,64,000

An Extreme Website brings the custom design system, motion, payment and CRM integrations, and technical SEO. Add an admin panel from ₹15,000 and two advanced landing pages for launch campaigns at ₹5,000 to ₹12,000 each. The build starts at ₹1,50,000 to ₹1,64,000, before maintenance.

How payment and timelines work

The quotation comes first: pages, stack, motion and extras, written and agreed before work starts. Payments then follow a 40/30/30 schedule tied to the work rather than to dates, so the second and third payments fall due only after you have seen the work they pay for.

  1. 40% on project confirmation, to start the work
  2. 30% at the development milestone, after the agreed design or build checkpoint
  3. 30% on final delivery, before handover, deployment or transfer of assets

On an Intermediate Website quoted at ₹45,000, that is ₹18,000 to start, ₹13,500 at the checkpoint and ₹13,500 at delivery. Timelines of 5 to 12, 15 to 30 or 30 to 60+ working days assume content, feedback and approvals come back on time.

Before deployment, the site can be redesigned once. After launch, one specific section can be changed once, and further changes are chargeable under the quotation.

How to lower the cost without getting a worse website

  • Have your content ready. Text, logo, photos and videos are yours to provide in our packages. Gathering them before the project starts saves money and weeks. If you have no usable images, our custom images cost ₹99 to ₹150 each.
  • Start with fewer pages. Launch with the pages that bring enquiries and add more later at ₹1,500 to ₹4,000 each.
  • Pick the simplest stack that works. If you do not need logins or stored data, you do not need a backend, and an Essential Website may be enough.
  • Spend on speed before decoration. Heavy animation costs money and can slow the page. Image and performance basics come first.
  • Own your accounts. Keep the domain, hosting and analytics in your name, so you never pay to get your own site back.
  • Fix the scope in writing. Features outside the agreed scope are quoted separately, so a clear brief stops the bill from creeping.

What we would not cut: mobile layouts, basic SEO, analytics and a contact path that works on the first tap. Those are the parts your customers actually use.

If you want a number for your own site, send us a short brief through our contact page. We will reply with a written quotation that lists the pages, stack and extras before anything starts.

Questions people ask

How much does it cost to make a website in India?

A professional business website starts at ₹18,000 with us, a full-stack site with a backend and database starts at ₹45,000, and a premium custom build starts at ₹1,25,000. Those are build prices only. Add a domain, hosting, 18% GST if the seller is GST-registered, and any maintenance plan. Your final price depends on pages, tech stack and integrations, which a written quotation should list.

How much does a website cost per month in India?

A simple website can cost a few hundred rupees a month to keep online, mostly hosting plus the yearly domain. As of October 2026, Hostinger's cheapest India shared hosting plan renews at ₹289 a month. If you add a maintenance plan, budget ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 a month on our rate card. Ongoing SEO is a separate cost, starting at ₹15,000 a month with us.

How much does it cost to host a website in India?

Shared hosting can cost under ₹100 a month on an introductory offer, but the renewal price is what you pay long term. As of October 2026, Hostinger India lists its Single plan at ₹69 a month on a 48-month term, renewing at ₹289 a month, and its Cloud Startup plan at ₹599 a month, renewing at ₹1,599. Sites with a backend and database usually need more than basic shared hosting.

How much does a custom website cost?

A fully custom website with its own design system, backend, integrations and technical SEO starts at ₹1,25,000 with us, in our Extreme Website package, and takes 30 to 60+ working days. A custom site with a backend and database but a simpler design starts at ₹45,000. The language, database, animation library and hosting are chosen at quotation, and that choice changes the price.

How much does website maintenance cost?

Website maintenance costs ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 a month on our published rate card. On top of that, you pay for hosting and the yearly domain renewal yourself, plus any premium plugins, APIs or software subscriptions the site uses. Whoever you hire, ask them to list in writing what the monthly fee covers, such as updates, fixes and small content changes, so there is no argument later.

How much does a basic website cost?

A basic professional website starts at ₹18,000 with us. That Essential Website includes Home, About, Services and Contact pages, a gallery, mobile layouts, WhatsApp and click-to-call, a contact form, Google Maps and basic on-page SEO, delivered in 5 to 12 working days. You provide the domain, hosting, logo and content, and extra pages cost ₹1,500 to ₹4,000 each.
